Donald Joseph Asher 3/7/26 – 8/25/10
Don’s passing is deeply mourned by his brother, Herb, and his companion Jackie, with whom he had daily support and contact through his illness. Don was a charming and engaging gentleman who will be remembered by and missed by a wide circle of friends. After publishing his first story in Saturday Evening Post, he authored 9 books of fiction and an “autobiography” with Hampton Hawes as well as numerous articles and stories in various publications. His most recent work, co-authored with Lois Goodwill, will be released in summer 2011. As a teen, Don studied piano with Jaki Byard, with whom he had a lifelong friendship …
